This is the single best modification for a true BMW enthusiast. If you changed one thing on the E46, let it be a new set of BBS wheels & tires! But immediately after that purchase, GET this shifter! Handed down to us mortals by the demigods of speed at UUC! Shifts so crisp my sweet tea is envious. DON'T forget the DSSR! In closing bang all them gears at a higher level!

I purchased this kit along with the DSSR after finding out that my home brewed unit was lightly rubbing against my drive shaft. I remembered reading about this product and thought it would help. It exceeded my expectations in quality and I can't get over how little play I have in my linkage now. Actually worried I might miss a gear since it is so close. Can't wait to get used to the added benefit of the kit. Directions are excellent but they should tell you that if you have ever replaced the gearshift rod joint, BMW changed the design which means the DSSR will not fit. 5 minutes with a Dremel and I was good to go! Very high quality piece!

I own 2 M3s already, a 2011 and just recently a 1998 with a manual transmission, both cars have the short shifter, a complete night and day difference when driving, I switched the stock to UUC a week of having both cars. I highly recommend it anyone who has a manual transmission car to get a UUC short shifter. Great product, thank you UUC.

I just installed this shifter on my car and I have to be completely honest, this shifter is perfect. I don't need to exert much effort to shift at all and when it goes into gear it is so satisfying. I have to say it is money very well spent.

This was a huge improvement not only in how my car shifts but my ability to drive the car. Felt like i could hit every gear every time with little throw. Also i really like the height adjustment feature. I have really long arms and big hands so I raised mine up a little bit.
Another huge improvement that i cant recommend enough for old m3's is new engine mount bushings and tranny bushings. If your engine/tranny is moving around on you it doesn't matter how fancy your shift nob and short shift kit are, youre going to miss gears. I learned the hard way. Money shifted 2-1 at full rpm. Lucky for me it didn't do too much damage.I knew about the problem and the possibility of missing a gear due to tranny shift from worn bushings and paid the price. After the mounts and short shift kit it feels amazing. 100% improvement. 10/10

BEAUTIFUL craftsmanship!! You need this upgrade. It is worth the $$$. I mean, this is one bad mofo! Installed it and proceeded to act like I found the Fountain of Youth. Or at least, my '95 M3 has!

Very nice product. Awesome precision that I expect will out last the car. Front carrier bushings required a little filing to fit properly, but other than that install was a breeze.

UUC SSK EVO 3
Overview:
The standard BMW transmission does not befit the vehicle. The throws are unbelievable long and spongy. I felt as if I was literally rowing the gears. The very first modification I installed in my car was a UUC Motorwerks Evolution 2 Short Shift Kit. From the moment it was installed I knew I had made the right choice. The throws were shorter and much more precise. My car now felt like a genuine sports car.
The SSK quickly became my favorite modification and my most used. So why change to the Evolution 3? Simple, it made my favorite modification my best modification. I did not believe that Evolution 3 could be that much better then my Evolution 2. My throws were already short albeit a tiny bit heavy. The Evolution 3 is incredible. The throw length feels about the same as that of the Evolution 2 however the shifts feel amazing. It actually feels as if this is a stock OEM shifter. There is no notchiness as the selector is worked through the gates. The transmission feels eager to accept the gear. The shifts feel quicker and more precise.
The biggest change occurs during daily driving. It no longer feels like a workout to shift constantly in stop and go traffic. It’s now so easy that it is a joy to shift. Everyone who has driven my car has noticed the new SSK. They have commented that my car now feels easier to drive.
On the track, the new SSK equals quicker lap times. Because I know that I will not miss a gear change, I can concentrate more on driving. I know that I will let down before the SSK does. It inspires confidence, which results in better driving technique and lap times.
I have driven cars equipped with several other SSKs and must say that some are nice. However none of them pack all of the features of the UUC Motorwerks SSK, especially when price is considered. The SSK is not only height adjustable (which gives your car a custom look in the interior) but it is made of stainless steel. This SSK will not break or wear. The throws are shorter and more precise then any other SSK on the market.
Conclusion:
The Evolution 3 is a wonderful product. Though, I didn’t think it would be possible it is indeed much better then the Evolution 2. The throws feel perfect now. They are short and light. This modification is a wonderful addition to my car, I highly recommend it.
