Why the big price difference?
Three significant factors:
1) Domestic USA production. Wilwood caliper components are
manufactured in Camarillo, CA. This eliminates an entire layer of
production expense, specifically overseas-factory markup, shipping
expenses, exchange rate charges, and import duties. Likewise, all
other components of the kit built by UUC here in the USA are literally
"manufacturer-direct" pricing.
2) Volume. As the largest aftermarket performance and race
caliper manufacturer in the world, Wilwood's production volume leads to
great efficiency in manufacturing. Likewise, this leads to great
cost savings in the replacement pad and rotor costs.
3) Original Equipment and Original Equipment-type rotors.
In the Stage 2 and 3 kits, the use of genuine BMW rotors or
replacements means that "big brake" rotor sizes are sourced at a much
lower cost than specially-made custom rotors. This pays dividends
in the future for normal wear-replacement parts, as the OE sizes are
available at any BMW dealer or BMW parts reseller.
Bottom line is that we can build a "World Class" brake kit that meets or exceeds the quality and performance level of other brands at a very reasonable price. No compromises, just a great value.
