For many years, UUC has been the leader in manual transmission clutch perfomance.  Our line of clutch kits was developed out of the need for reliable options for enthusiast street cars of all varieties and the harsh world of racecar use.  We simply could not find another aftermarket brand that would hold up to our requirements.

UUC's line of performance clutches is available for use with any UUC Stage 1 or Stage 2 flywheel, most original equipment BMW flywheels, and most aftermarket flywheels from other manufacturers. Applications are available for every type of use and motorsport.

UUC's clutch kits are made with increased clamping force from the pressure plate, and four specific types of clutch friction materials and configurations for various types of usage; Performance Organic, Segmented Kevlar, CeraMetallic, and Multi-Puck Ceramic.

Uprated pressure features include over-built drive straps, increased clamp load usually twice as strong as OE, and solid bolts instead of OE rivets. All pressure plates use genuine Sachs or LUK cover stampings for perfect fit and purpose-built internal components.

All clutches are sold as complete kits consisting of pressure plate assembly, friction disk, OEM release bearing, and alignment tool.

Material usage recommendations:

Performance Organic: ideal for street use and track use. The enhanced 2400psi pressure plate and uprated clutch disk friction material make it ideal for daily-driven cars with power enhancements beyond 50% more than original power level. This clutch's engagement characteristics and pedal effort are virtually the same as a BMW OEM clutch, very smooth and easy to modulate.

Segmented Kevlar: ideal for street use and road course track use. The enhanced 2400psi pressure plate and uprated clutch disk friction material make it ideal for daily-driven cars with power enhancements beyond 100% more than original power level. This clutch's engagement characteristics and pedal effort are virtually the same as a BMW OEM clutch, very smooth and easy to modulate. Highly recommended for street-driven turbo applications and cars fitted with SMG transmission.

CeraMetallic: optimized for extreme high-powered cars that are street-driven yet still see some drag-racing. Engagement is relatively smooth for this type of extreme-capacity clutch. Operation will differ in that a slight judder may be apparent in lower gears if slipped excessively, such as stop-and-go traffic. There are many special features of this clutch that contribute to the smoothness including number and arrangement of friction pads, friction pad material, marcelled and segmented backing disk, and sprung-hub center (solid flywheel version only). The enhanced 2400psi pressure plate and ceramic/metallic disk lining is capable of handling power loads approximately double what the car originally produced.

Multi-Puck Ceramic: optimized for frequent or dedicated drag-racing, high-powered modified cars, and can still be used for regular street driving. Note that slow clutch engagement-style street driving may result in "abrupt" engagement and minor chatter in the lower gears. The enhanced 2400psi pressure plate and ceramic/metallic disk lining is capable of handling power loads approximately double what the car originally produced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Any negative effects to using a performance clutch?

A: Different materials have different characteristics, some will drive like a standard clutch, and others will behave differently. See specific descriptions for characteristics.

Q: My car's clutch was originally fitted with a Self-Adjusting Clutch (SAC) mechanism. Does UUC support that?

A: For applications originally fitted with SAC, we deliberately convert these to a non-SAC, conventional-style pressure plate. This improves pedal modulation and feedback, and results in longer service life. Driver operation is completely unchanged.

Q: I don't have a racecar, are these parts still suitable?

A: Absolutely! If you have engine modifications or unique usage requirements, then the appropriate performance clutch will work better than the original part.

Q: Does installation require permanent modifications?

A: No. All components are completely “bolt-in” with no irreversible changes made to the car.
